|On the 15th of March, Jayden and I attended the 2016 Leadership Program where we learnt what Leadership and the position of College Captain really meant. We did this by talking to students from various schools and with His Excellency General Honourable David Hurley, Governor of New South Wales. We toured Parliament and Government house and learnt about the previous Governors of New South Wales. By doing this we saw the importance of leadership in society and the values of participating in it on a small scale, such as at school. It made us appreciate the positions we have obtained and the value of teamwork.
Throughout the day, we learnt about the importance of leadership in settings other than school and how it can benefit one in their future endeavors. Throughout the day we were able to meet the local representatives and learn about the various initiatives being undertaken in the areas where our schools are situated. We met different captains from catholic and public schools alike and discussed different angles of leadership and how a leader is not defined so much by their intellectual abilities, but more so their actions to benefit the community. These newfound leadership skills allowed us to reflect on our experience as leaders and made us all the more proud of being the College Captains of such an extraordinary community. Having the privilege to attend such a day only strengthened and highlighted our core qualities of love, service and hope - the trademark of our magnificent school.
