Competition is heating up as the final round of the Delany Cup approaches. This annual debating competition is organised by Delany College for Year 5 students from six surrounding Catholic primary schools. Delany’s students are adjudicators, ushers, caterers and helpers for the competition, which runs over four weeks. Round three was held on Wednesday 30 August when students debated the topic, ‘If you find $100, it's yours to keep’. Read more...

The Delany Cup is an annual Year 5 debating competition with our local Catholic primary schools. Round 1 teams were St Margaret Mary's, St Patrick's, Our Lady Queen of Peace and St Oliver's. The topic of debate was "That children should be allowed to have a mobile phone at school" Delany adjudicators were Rhys Ramos, Rasha Aboulhalka, Reegan Roebeck and Jasmine Diab.
The Monsignor McGovern Art Prize, for students in Years 5 and 6 attending our local primary catholic schools, was established by Delany College in 2002. The award is named after the Holy Trinity Parish Priest Monsignor Joseph McGovern who first invited the Patrician Brothers to come to Granville and open primary and secondary schools.

The activity we were conducting was a science lesson to do with inertia.
When listening to the words of Mother Teresa today I was reminded of our school Motto and of the community we have at Delany. "The fruit of Silence is prayer. The fruit of Prayer is faith. The fruit of Faith is love. The fruit of Love is service. The fruit of Service is peace." Mercy certainly has a face in our Delany community.
I wish to express my profound thanks to staff, students, ex-students, the local SVDP team and parents for their enthusiastic participation and making it a great success. I am always moved by the generosity of our school community.

This competition is open to all year 5 and 6 local Catholic primary school students. Last Friday Ms Broue and two year 10 students visited one of these schools to provide a workshop on portrait painting. The competition will culminate with an exhibition and prize awards evening on Tuesday 26 July at 5.30pm (next term). More information will be provided as the evening approaches.
